As a Lactation Consultant working closely with families in the early months of life, I found the Tongue Tie Toolbox: Functional Feeding and Therapeutic Techniques course to be one of the most comprehensive and clinically relevant trainings on oral function and tongue tie that I have encountered to date.

This course clearly bridges the gap between theory and practice. It provides a thorough understanding of how oral dysfunction manifests in infants and how it can impact feeding, development, and family wellbeing. Importantly, it promotes a crucial shift in clinical thinking—moving beyond a visual diagnosis to truly recognising the importance of function.

The Tongue Tie Toolbox equips clinicians with the skills to assess and support oral function, helping to identify when tethered oral tissues may be contributing to feeding challenges. It offers practical tools that can be implemented immediately in clinical practice, supporting families before, during, and after frenotomy where appropriate.

For any professional working with infants from birth to six months—particularly Lactation Consultants, Paediatricians, Midwives and GPs—this course is an invaluable resource. It ensures that feeding issues are not dismissed or overlooked, but rather explored in a holistic, informed, and compassionate manner.

Ultimately, this course has the potential to significantly improve access to expert care for families, and to promote more positive, long-term outcomes for the infants we support

Oranmore Physio and Craniosacral Therapy

This  is an incredible resource for any clinician interacting with babies less than 6 months who present with feeding issues and indeed generalised fussiness, colic, reflux and even sleep issues.

The course itself is a series of videos, some demonstrating real life client consultations/ therapy and also videos of Kate presenting information relating to each client video .
It’s like being in the clinic next to her but even better as you can pause and rewind as often as you like !
There is also video  of surgery which is fantastic.

Each video can be as short as a couple of mins or as long as 15mins. This means that it’s easy to watch in short bursts and take notes or even pause and come back to it later in the day, leaving it a very accessible learning tool to fit in with the demands of a busy clinic / home life.
There is a comment section within each video so you can write in your questions as they come to you . Any comment / query I had was promptly and succinctly answered by Kate.

There is SO much information in this toolbox and it is all easily transferable into daily clinical practice ; it is practical and functional with Kate’s clear and concise manner making it really easy to watch and listen.

Completion  of this course has enabled me to :

- confidently detect issues around oral dysfunction and explain to parents why a referral for ongoing assessment with a tongue tie specialist may be necessary.
- implement the pre and post op techniques in my clinic so that baby has an improved functional pattern of feeding and simultaneously, limiting unhelpful compensation strategies.
- empower parents with tools, techniques and science based information so they have ‘buy in’ from an early stage in the process and will persevere with therapy longer term .
- offer treatment and home therapy strategies that will allow baby to progress and grow without unhelpful compensation strategies that will most likely continue in their system often “resurfacing “ as other ailments in adult life.
- upgrade my own professional expertise and ultimately has given me an ‘add on’ to what I already offer as a physio/ Craniosacral therapist ; I can easily integrate the techniques and teachings into my daily practice with “ no added time” needed.

I would highly recommend this to clinicians working with this age group for example Physio’s, Craniosacral therapists , lactation consultants, osteopaths , public health nurses….
