The clinical problem

The procedure is not the endpoint.

Tongue tie release removes a structural restriction. It does not automatically rehabilitate the compensatory feeding patterns that developed around that restriction.

Those patterns, in the baby's nervous system, posture, and suck swallow breathe coordination, need to be actively addressed. Without a structured rehabilitation framework, families leave the procedure appointment with a sheet of exercises, no rationale, and no way of knowing whether what they are doing at home is making any difference.

The PRIME Feeding Method is the framework that closes that gap. It is built on the principle that the preparation is the intervention and that the feed begins long before the baby latches.

Programme before you feed. The preparation is the intervention.

Core principle, The PRIME Feeding Method

The PRIME Feeding Method

Five stages, one sequence

P
Parent regulation
The caregiver's autonomic nervous system state is the first clinical variable. Co-regulation is a prerequisite, not an afterthought.
R
Readiness
The infant must be neurologically safe, settled, and receptive before any feeding work begins.
I
Isoalign
Postural symmetry and midline orientation, achieved through unwinding of fascial and myofascial tension patterns that compromise feeding mechanics.
M
Motor patterning
Suck swallow breathe coordination training using the ACE Tools: PACE, FACE, and RACE, three instruments, one goal.
E
Embody
The trained pattern transitions from effortful practice to embodied, subcortical function in a supported, enjoyable, functional feed.
How the masterclass works

A hybrid format built for clinicians

The masterclass is structured in two components. The theoretical foundation is delivered through pre-recorded modules on the Tongue Tie Toolbox, completed before the live day. The in-person day is reserved entirely for what can only happen in person: live clinical observation and supervised hands-on practice.

Before the day

Pre-recorded theory modules

Seven online modules delivered through the Tongue Tie Toolbox. Approximately three and a half hours total. Must be completed before attending the live day.

1
The PRIME Feeding Method: foundations
approx. 30 min
2
P: Parent regulation
approx. 20 min — Co-regulation as a clinical prerequisite. The caregiver autonomic state as the first clinical variable. Practical application of parent regulation before every feed.
3
R: Readiness
approx. 15 min — The neurological availability window for motor learning. What to do when a baby is not yet ready. Readiness across the three clinical scenarios.
4
I: Isoalign
approx. 35 min
5
M: Motor patterning and the ACE Tools
approx. 35 min
6
E: Embody motor learning
approx. 25 min
7
Parent communication and education
approx. 25 min
Required: All seven modules must be completed before the masterclass day. Toolbox access is provided on registration, with all modules available by 18 May 2026.

  • Have an awareness of how to achieve readiness for a feed
  • Have an overview of the ACE Tools, PACE, FACE, and RACE, with a rationale for which tool to choose
  • Introduce the concept of Isoalign as it applies to infants across the three clinical scenarios
  • Gain insight into the rationale of embodied motor learning as it applies to infant suck swallow breathe coordination
  • Learn how to build a framework to empower parents to integrate PRIME into their daily routine
  • Observe live clinical application of PRIME across initial assessment and prehabilitation, frenectomy day, and post-operative feeding follow-up

Questions

Frequently asked

Yes. All seven pre-recorded theory modules on the Tongue Tie Toolbox must be completed before the masterclass day. Toolbox access is provided immediately on registration so you can begin straight away. The in-person day assumes this theoretical foundation is in place and is structured entirely around clinical observation and supervised practice.
The masterclass is designed for clinicians who already work with infants and have a foundational understanding of infant feeding. It is not an introductory course in lactation or infant feeding. Attendees from physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, IBCLC, and paediatric nursing backgrounds will all find the content relevant and clinically applicable.
A CPD certificate is issued on completion of both the pre-recorded modules and the in-person masterclass day. The certificate is applicable to CORU, ISCP, and IBLCE continuing education requirements. Application for CERPs/CME is currently pending: please check tonguetietoolbox.com for the most current accreditation status.
A maximum of 20 places are available for this masterclass. This is a deliberate decision to ensure every attendee has full observation access to the live demonstrations and personal supervision time during hands-on practice sessions. Early registration is strongly recommended.
Cancellations made more than 21 days before the masterclass date receive a full refund. Cancellations within 21 days are non-refundable but your place may be transferred to a colleague. In the event of cancellation by the NTTC, a full refund will be issued.
Yes. Completion of the Introduction to the PRIME Feeding Method masterclass is the prerequisite for the PRIME Feeding Method practitioner intensive, which forms the basis of the Australia 2027 tour programme. Graduates of this masterclass will receive priority access and early notification for the practitioner intensive dates.
